Taylor & Charlie’s Maternity Session at The Barn 305 Miami — A Love Story, A Legacy, and a Little Magic
Every so often, a session comes along that reminds me why I picked up a camera in the first place—and this one? Whew. Right in the heart.
Taylor and Charlie are one of those couples who make you believe in full-circle love stories. High school sweethearts who weathered life’s storms—including the heartbreaking loss of a pregnancy in their teens—they’re now preparing to welcome their first child together. And I’ve been lucky enough to capture every beautiful chapter of that journey—from their pregnancy announcement to their upcoming newborn session.
Their maternity shoot took place at the breathtaking The Barn 305 Miami—a hidden gem of a venue that gives you rustic romance, tropical magic, and just the right amount of drama… all in one dreamy hour. Yes, ONE hour! (Photographers: y’all know what a unicorn that is.)
What made this location even more special was the waterfall feature on the property. Taylor’s father, who passed away a few years ago, used to build waterfalls just like it. For Taylor, that made this spot not just perfect—it made it personal. And as someone who believes every photo should tell a story, you know I had to lean into that moment.
In one of my favorite images from the day, I edited a soft, loving tribute to her father into the waterfall scene. When Taylor saw it, the emotion was instant—tears, hugs, and that full-body moment where you feel both the absence and the presence of someone you love. It was a true honor to help her hold space for that connection while celebrating new life.
You can feel the joy, the strength, the softness—it’s all there.

We got dreamy canoe vibes, floral fairytale realness, romantic waterside kisses, and smiles that radiate everything they’ve overcome and everything they’re hoping for.
And let’s talk about Charlie for a second.
He’s an avid fisherman, so naturally, we had to work a little nod to his favorite pastime into the shoot. (Because when you’re this excited about becoming a dad and have a deep love for the water, why not merge the two?) We captured some sweet moments by the water’s edge—casting glances instead of lines, but the love was definitely biting.
I was especially excited when I caught Charlie mid-explanation, sharing one of his fishing secrets with Taylor. The moment was just so them, I didn’t think twice—I leapt right into the water to grab the perfect angle… and then instantly realized my phone was still in my pocket. Cue panic. For a split second, I thought I’d sacrificed my entire digital existence for the shot. But thankfully, Ivan (aka MVP and voice of reason) reminded me that modern phones can actually get wet now. Who knew?! The phone survived. I survived. And I got the shot. You really do learn something new every day.
